Ready for the future

The office at the Fellenoord in Eindhoven has undergone a progressive metamorphosis. EDGE (formerly OVG Real Estate) has redeveloped the former Rabobank office into new accommodation for the Central Government Real Estate Agency. Edge Tech has sought collaboration with UNStudio for the design. The design focuses on a healthy, sustainable and flexible work concept for the user and the environment. The building design is of BREEAM-Excellent sustainability level, which means that the building was delivered without a connection for natural gas and is equipped with the latest generation of technology (ATES and PV panels). The design contains smart applications, such as location sensors and an intelligent data infrastructure. These applications provide insight into the behavior of the users and that ensures lower energy consumption and more efficient use of the spaces. In this way Fellenoord in Eindhoven is ready for the future.

MORE THAN 8000 M2 MD STRETCH METAL

UNStudio involved Metadecor at an early stage in the Fellenoord project in Eindhoven, as a result of which we contributed ideas about how the facade could best be designed. The project comprises more than 8000 m2 expanded metal, which is an extensive project. In addition to façade cladding, we have also applied our products to exterior ceilings, floating façade tapes and bicycle sheds. But that was not all. We also took care of the auxiliary and sub-construction, the insulation and the foil. Both the auxiliary construction and the sub-construction are powder coated in black color. The sub-construction is provided by us for the insulation of a watertight vapor-open foil in black and fixed with special wall brackets in the insulation behind the foil. An insulator has been placed between the wall bracket and the construction and a batten strip at the level of the foil. As a result, we optimized the cold bridge as much as possible. On the first floor we placed two panels of expanded metal one behind the other, creating a moiré effect. This gives the facade a more playful and wavy appearance.

MULTIPLE PRODUCTS
In addition to MD Expanded  Metal, we also applied MD Lamel on the facade, anodised in a special copper color with MD Flack behind it. The MD Flack panels are powder-coated black and have a special anti-thump on the façade tapes to prevent vibrations. As fastening system we used MD Verti and MD Clips, which are visible fixings for facades. In the bicycle shed we used MD Designperforation with a blind fixing of our MD Resto assortment.

FROM THE OUTSIDE IN
After months of working on the façade of this special project, we were commissioned in the summer of 2019 to also provide ceilings and interior walls with MD Expanded Metal. We have taken into account acoustics in the Atrium of the building. The Atrium is an important meeting place with a central location in the office building.
