Tree facade of corten for secondary vocational education
The new school building of the Graafschap College will be located on the site of the former tennis hall at Sportpark Zuid in Doetinchem. The approximately 700 students from the Sports and Exercise and Safety and Craftsmanship courses will make use of this from the 2018-2019 school year.
Quote cepezed's Koen van Tienen:
"We had an integral approach to this project. We sat with all parties at the table to implement the complex design. Metadecor has contributed to the elaboration of the tree façade and realized it. We have enjoyed working with them throughout the entire process. "
We realized a tree structure of corten on the facade. This is provided with MD Design perforation. The trees are composed of segments and these are attached to each other with fixed connections. The whole is then attached to the existing main supporting structure on the façade with pendulum bars.
"That Metadecor does not shy away from a challenge in the field of façade construction is proven by the Graafschap College project in Doetinchem. With such a complex project, the first step is to draw a few concepts, which we tested on feasiblity with our partners. The project was initially received by the constructor with frowned eyebrows: "How are we going to keep this in the air?". Fortunately, just like ourselves, enthusiasm soon developed to grow this remarkable tree facade and plant the trees. "- Martin Elslo, Technical Designer.
