Copper facade of MD Expanded metal
We supplied the Cultural Center at Ieper (Ypres) with a sheet wall facade of MD Expanded metal. This facade forms a seamless, continuous skin around the building.
As well as being a quality product, using a copper facade is also highly aesthetic. The main reasons for using copper as a material are the malleability and abrasion resistance. Under the stresses of air temperatures and rainfall, copper forms an impermeable oxide layer which initially develops into a deep brown and then stabilises into the characteristic patina color. This oxide layer protects the copper directly from the elements.
