Aluminum 'eyelashes' as sunshade
This new education building houses two primary schools, one secondary school and a daycare center. The facades are designed parametrically. The facade has aluminum eyelashes. These are static sun protection screens, made in such a way that you can look outside unhindered and thus make optimal use of sunlight while avoiding annoying solar radiation. The dimensions of the facade openings and sun blinds have been optimized, resulting in a significant reduction in the cooling installation and the use of artificial light.
The eyelashes are made of a double-curved aluminum panel with perforations. In addition to these special eyelashes, we use aluminum cassettes with a special gravure printing. The circles are placed in the panel as a shape and pressed lightly. This creates a kind of studs on the panel. In addition to this gravure printing, the perforation of the eyelashes continues into the adjacent panels. All in all a beautiful piece of art.
