Performance:
MD Formatura panels fastened with the MD Mezzo system. This is a semi-blind fastening system in which the screw disappears behind the perforation. MD Mezzo system is attached to the glass fiber system with a special bracket. These are provided with threaded bushes, which makes invisible fastening possible. The parts in front of the windows are equipped with MD Apertura fastening system, making them easy to open for cleaning and maintenance.
Surface treatment:
Seaside class, pickled 2.0 grams, class 2 coating to maintain gloss level and color against UV exposure and radiation, both MD Formatura panels and MD Mezzo auxiliary construction with 3-layer coating all around, color Faro white and blank metallic.
Art in aluminium: Metadecor´s creative façade design
Along the IJssel (a river in the Netherlands), at the foot of the Eilandbrug in Kampen, an artistic perforated façade enhances the Metadecor headquarters. The aluminium cladding features a unique MD Formatura pattern, inspired by the work of local painter Jan Voerman Sr., known for his characteristic cloudy sky paintings. This way our façade became an ode to the landscape and art.
Façade Design Based on Local Art
The design of the façade was created in collaboration with design agency NVDTA and artist Chris Kabel. It is based on a painting by the Kamper painter Jan Voerman Sr. from the early twentieth century. This painter is known for his landscape paintings along the IJssel, a river that runs almost past our office building. The clouds from his painting are incorporated in the pattern of our façade. The cloudy sky has been converted into pixels, which we have manipulated in such a way that the façade also has the desired functional properties.
In order to integrate the image of the clouds into the façade as best as possible, we opted for a square pattern. This pattern was punched out of the aluminum panels with MD Formatura. The squares were then positioned in such a way that the façade creates visual depth and dynamism, depending on the angle of light and viewpoint.
Finishing and installation with MD Mezzo and MD Apertura
The MD Formatura panels are powder-coated in a special white tint, which provides an additional reflective effect. The aluminium façade cladding was fully engineered by Metadecor and installed by our in-house team. The MD Mezzo fixing system was used, and for the windows, MD Apertura was chosen, allowing panels to be easily opened for cleaning and maintenance.
We are now literally and figuratively in the clouds (Dutch saying) with our façade!
