Concert hall gets ceilings from MD Expanded metal

Construction consortium Cadanz (Boele & van Eesteren | Visser & Smit Bouw) is realizing the Amare Education and Culture Complex in The Hague (OCC). The OCC is located on Spuiplein in the center of The Hague and will be the new home of the Dance and Music Center The Hague Foundation, the Netherlands Dance Theater, the Residentie Orchestra and the Royal Conservatory.

The project has a high sustainability ambition and is BREEAM-NL Excellent certified. Together we pay a lot of attention to energy and water consumption, materialization, well-being of the users and the environment.

Amare itself has a raised plinth that is accessible. In addition to the entrance at the Turfplaza, there is a wide entrance on the Spuiplein side. Public spaces will be located on the lower levels. It is the place for casual meetings between the cultural institutions that 'live' in the building and their visitors, but also for meetings with the public in The Hague. The openness of the building is reflected by its 'all-sidedness': Amare shows itself in all directions. The City Canteen forms the heart of the building and is open to residents, their guests, visiting groups and random passers-by who want to drink a cup of coffee, for example.

Acoustic ceiling made of MD Expanded metal

There are four halls in the Amare Education and Cultural Complex in The Hague: the theater hall (1,500 people), ensemble hall (600 people), rehearsal hall (200 people) and concert hall (2,500 people). All rooms have their own shape and atmosphere. The high-quality finish must meet high acoustic requirements. In the concert hall, Metadecor uses an acoustic ceiling from MD Strekmetaal. Metadecor also supplies the steel structure to which the ceiling is attached.

We also apply MD Design perforation to the abdomen of the OCC. The perforation pattern consists of triangles, in certain places fewer triangles have been punched out of the panel. This can also be seen in the photo below, which also shows our colleague Anne during the installation of the aluminum cladding.
